Sacred Assembly Nov 28 Pre-prayer vigil

Many blessing to those who have devoted an hour of prayer for this event. You might be asking about how to pray. I feel led to ask you to pray:
  • For the Holy Spirit to soften hearts to repentance, beginning with our own
  • For a grateful heart
  • For spiritual healing and ability to have stronger loving relationships

For more specifics or suggestions on how to begin your hour of prayer, see the postings below

I am posting this blog with the hopes that you will add what God has laid on your heart that we need to pray for as a church, as individuals, and as a nation. Please add your comments.

Why should your church have a sacred assembly?

It's time for Christians to begin taking seriously the word Christian--we are to be like Christ--and let's face it, on the whole our churches are far from living like CHrist would want us to. there is no power in our lives, we go through routines, we strive to get smarter and more equipped to be better at our jobs, but we leave the most crucial part out--surrendering daily to the Lord and letting His Holy Spirit guide us to what is best for us and best for the His Kingdom. And by the way, what's best for the kingdom is what is best for us, and what is best for us is best for the kindgom. How exciting to live by His power and might and not have to depend on our strength --to walk in peace and security of heart. THis is why we should have a sacred assembly at churches--to get us to the place of repentance and back to the basics---we are so full of programs and activities in churches that we crowd out the simple message of truth, peace and joy. Repent, Surrender, and walk in love and victory!

Are you a Christian? Here's how to get started in prayer

Prayer guide for your hour of prayer:

1. Spend quiet time getting yourself on track and humbled before the Lord. In other words, put God in His place of honor and glory and we will know our own place. Speak to Him the greatness He deserves and your love for Him.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to You and bring before you what you need to know about yourself by way of His Word and His Spirit.

2. Confession--Open yourself up by yielding to the Lord your mind, soul and body. “All I am is yours, Lord”
(God will read your heart and reveal sins that are unconfessed and causing a hindrance to you. Get all that out in the open and let Him wash you clean.)

Open your Bible and have it before you. Have pen and paper handy in case you need to write down what the Lord is telling you to pray about. When He reveals sin in your life, confess it, and accept the power of the Holy Spirit to free you from it. If you feel drawn to read scripture , just look down and read what is open before you---trust God to open the pages with your hands that he wants you to read

Be ready to listen to His promptings by eliminating any distractions---no food, phone, tv, computer, etc. (even if you have to get in a closet!)

3. Praise and Thank God in your heart and with your voice in whatever way you choose.

Suggestions:

· Open the book of Psalms to find help for verbally expressing your heart
· Dance, shout, sing, cry, laugh or just plain tell God how great He is
· Be demonstrative, not just silent

Thank Him for his love and for working in your life, carrying out His purposes for you.,,not just for the past and present things, but for giving you “a future and a hope”. Speak it all out before Him. He knows your needs.

4. Petition and Intercession: Spend time asking for His divine intervention for needs of others, the church, the community, the Nation, and the World. His Holy Spirit will reveal to your heart what to ask. “Be Still and know that I am God.”

End your prayer hour by praying for the person who begins praying next.

May the Lord Bless you in this sweet hour of prayer
